How much does a website cost?
That's a bit like asking how much a house costs but here's something to give you the idea. If you look around the internet I think you'll find that my prices are highly competitive. There are cheaper prices to be found (but not by much) or if you really want to save money you could find a 15 year old relative to take it on as a GCSE IT project... I know someone who did that, seriously! Remember that you want someone who's still going to be around tomorrow, who won't lose interest and that the Challenger space shuttle was built by the lowest bidder. We also have the advantage that we're a small business operating under the V.A.T. threshhold ... so we don't have to add 17.5% to our invoices.
For those on a serious budget we can create what we call a Business Card Website.
This consists of one web page with a simple logo, your contact details, up to 5 photos creatively positioned, a bio or summary of your business or service (up to 1 page of A4 text which you draft and send to us as a Word document). This also includes a .co.uk or similar domain name, an email account and 12 months hosting. These are a great way to get your small business an internet foothold and the cost is only £75 with 2nd and subsequent years hosting at £35.
For a site like www.ruthshelley.com you'd be looking at £175 including a .co.uk domain name or £195 with the .com domain name. Within that price you could add up to 10 photos used in various ways throughout the site (I enjoy working with photos and thus seriously undercharge compared to other web designers), an additional photogallery of up to 25 images, text for 5 pages (supplied by you in digital format e.g. in a Word document). a custom made banner/header/logo, up to 20 links to other sites if desired (YOU have to give me the site addresses), your choice of colour scheme, up to 5 email addresses AND 12 months web hosting with up to 2 hours of time spent on updates over the year. Major updates or alterations after the initial site design is agreed and beyond the time included will be charged at £25 per hour. 2nd and subsequent years hosting and upkeep will be £65.
The above are only examples. We don't force you to fit into the box; we'll build the box to fit you and we are happy to think outside it or even to deny that the box exists.
Shopping sites
We don't normally do shopping sites. We can do paypal purchase links for a few products or services but high volume shopping sites are almost always labour intensive for mainainance and upkeep. Unless you can handle updates and changes yourself your charges are going to eat up (or even exceed) your profits. If you have the ability to handle this please contact us with your requirements and we'll work up an estimate for you.
Photo manipulation
Fixing photos or changing faces on old master paintings (these make great presents for the person who has everything) as seen in sample pages two and three is charged by the hour at £25 per hour. Let us know what you'd like done and we'll give you a quote. We normally create the Old Masters at a resolution suitable for printing at A3 size and send them to you on disc for you to have printed at the location of your choice.
Animated GIFs
Customised animated image as seen on sample page two can be created to order (subject to the limitations of practicality) at the above stated hourly rate. Again, tell us what you want and we'll give you a quote.
Other Services
Ask. If it's something we can do we'll give you a quote.
Please note that all prices are subject to change until a quotation has been given and that quotation prices are normally valid for 30 days.
